Question: Describe the person in your family who you most admire.
I. SƠ LƯỢC VỀ CHỦ ĐỀ VÀ TOPIC
Đề bài thuộc chủ đề miêu tả người, cụ thể là một thành viên trong gia đình mà bạn ngưỡng mộ nhất. Đề không yêu cầu phải nói nhiều về ngoại hình è cần tập trung vào các từ mô tả tính cách và công việc, nhằm giải thích lí do khiến thành viên đó khiến cho bạn ngưỡng mộ.
II. DÀN Ý (WHAT SHOULD YOU SAY?)
You should say:
- what his/her relationship with you?
- what she/he has done in your life?
- what she/he does now?
And explain why you admire this person so much.
III. TẬN DỤNG 1 PHÚT CHUẨN BỊ
Trong thời gian chuẩn bị, không nên chỉ dừng lại ở việc ghi keyword, bạn hãy tận dụng 1 phút này để làm 5 việc sau:
- Ghi các keyword theo từng câu hỏi trong đề, hãy tranh thủ ghi ra càng nhiều từ vựng hay càng tốt.
- Cân nhắc các thì cần dùng
Cần chú ý, lỗi không chia động từ ở thì quá khứ là một lỗi rất hay gặp trong bài thi Speaking!
- Chuẩn bị một câu mở đầu đủ dài, lưu loát và đúng trọng tâm để tạo ấn tượng tốt ban đầu cho bài nói của bạn
- Chuẩn bị sẵn các linking words
- Rephrase các câu hỏi trong đề
IV. CÂU TRẢ LỜI MẪU
Generally, people may have admiration for a celebrity like a singer or an actor… but for me, there is a person in my family… that I consider my role model… and now I would like to introduce my elder brother to you.
About our relationship, well… with a ten-year age gap, it is lucky for me to have a mature and lenient brother… who keeps me as the apple of his eye, and gets along really well with me. We share common interests such as travelling, cooking, and learning foreign languages.
In terms of the way my life has been affected by my brother, he is the most enthusiastic advocate of mine… who has become my personal advisor and guided me through difficult situations. For example, during my high school time, I used to feel myself in vain… because of low scores in exams. He let me cry on his shoulder… and encouraged me to work harder for the following exams… instead of crying over spilt milk.
Moving on to my brother’s current work, as a person who embraces novelty and is sociable, he has become an experienced tour guide… and has successfully promoted countless tourist attractions in Vietnam.
Lastly, I should also mention the reason why I admire my brother, well… I believe my brother has the characteristics of a true gentleman… because he is handsome, caring, and knowledgeable. He is the mirror that reflects my parents’ strict education from early childhood.
V. VOCABULARY AND COLLOCATIONS
- Have admiration for: to greatly respect
- Role model: a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated.
- Share common interests: to have the same hobbies
- Advocate: supporter
- Mature: grown-up
- Lenient: tolerant
VI. IDIOMS AND PHRASAL VERBS
Ngoài ra, bạn nên sử dụng các thành ngữ và các phrasal verb để bài nói của bạn tự nhiên hơn
- The apple of one’s eye: a person of whom one is extremely fond and proud.
- To cry over spilt milk: to be unhappy about something that has already happened
- Let down: to disappoint
- Get along with: be friendly to someone
- In vain: without success or a result
VII. GRAMMAR
Về ngữ pháp, bạn có thể tăng độ khó và đa dạng hóa các cấu trúc ngữ pháp bằng các cách sau:
- Kết nối nhiều mệnh đề thành một câu phức bằng cách sử dụng các từ nối như: and, with, so that, hay V-ing
- Sử dụng mệnh đề quan hệ. VD: …there is a person in my family… that I consider my role model…
- Sử dụng bị động cách. VD: In terms of the way my life has been affected by my brother…
- Chuyển đổi linh hoạt giữa các thì, cụ thể trong bài này mình dùng thì QKĐ, HTĐ, HTHT
